Description
Get ready for a great combination tour from Koh Samui to see both the pink dolphins in Khanom and pig island, otherwise known as Koh Madsum. This excursion runs every day and is a great way to see both attractions in just one day.
The first stop is the coast of Khanom on the mainland, where we have the chance (and it’s a good 99% chance) to see the pink dolphins in their natural habitat. We’ll visit the Pancake rock and make our way across the Khanom coastline for some lovely views of this quiet place.
After that we board the speedboat for a short trip to Koh Tan, where you can go snorkeling along the reef. The final stop is Koh Madsum or Pig island. Enjoy the white sandy beach, go swimming or interact with the livig pigs on this island. We then head back to the pier on Koh Samui where we enjoy a delicious Thai style lunch. Our minivans will then bring you back to your hotel or villa on the island.
An amazing way to see both the pink dolphins and pig island on this one day tour from Koh Samui!
What to Expect on the Pink dolphins & Pig island tour
This day tour from Koh Samui to the pink dolphins in Khanom, Koh Taen and Koh Madsum (Pig island) is a great way to see the islands south from Samui and a bit of the mainland.
Our driver will pick you up in the morning from your hotel or villa in Koh Samui. We head to the pier in the south of the island, where we board the speedboat with a minimum of 15 and maximum of 29 passengers. Our trip to Khanom takes around 30 minutes. There we will watch the dolphins from the speedboat. Please note that they are in their natural habitat and free to go anywhere. After dolphin watching we have a look at the pancake rock, a distinct rock on the shore.
We then take the speedboat to Koh Tan, which is south of Koh Samui. There you can go snorkeling along the reef. Enjoy the amazing underwater world before we head to the neighbouring pig island Koh Madsum. See the pigs on the beach and have a swim here. This is really a bounty island so don’t forget your camera! At 2:00 p.m. (14:00) we board the speedboat again for a 10 minute ride back to Koh Samui. There we will enjoy a delicious Thai style lunch. From here you will be transferred back to your hotel or villa on the island. You should be home by 3:00 p.m. or 15:00.
Itinerary
Our driver will pick you up in an air conditioned minivan between 08:00 and 08:30, depending on your location. We head to the pier in the south of Koh Samui.
We board the speedboat for the Pink dolphin & Pig island tour and head to the mainland. This takes about 30 minutes. Here we watch the dolphins in their natural surroundings. Afterwards we visit the Pancake rock to take some photos.
Enjoy a tasty seafood lunch on the beach in Khanom on the mainland. We have vegetarian and halal options available. If you wish, you can go swimming at the quiet beach as well.
Our speedboat brings us to Koh Tan, an island close to the south side of Koh Samui. Here you can go snorkeling on a beautiful reef. Enjoy the underwater life or relax on the boat. Masks and snorkels are provided.
After snorkeling it’s time to visit the pigs on pig island. The tour continues to the neighbouring island of Madsum. Here you can see the famous pigs and relax on the beach. There is a little restaurant here if you wish to drink some (alcoholic) beverages.
Unfortunately all good things come to an end. At 14:45 or 2:45 p.m. we board the speedboat for a short ride back to Koh Samui. This should take no longer than 15 minutes. At the shore our driver will be waiting for you to bring you back to your hotel or villa on Koh Samui.

Faq
You can expect a delicious Thai style seafood lunch on the beach in Khanom. There will be several (halal or vegetarian) choices like a rice, vegetables, stir fried, seafood and a dessert. If you have any specific food allergies, please let us know prior to booking this tour.
We haven’t experienced yet that we couldn’t locate the dolphins. However, as they are free to roam anywhere there is a very, very small chance that we can’t find them. That’s why we can’t guarantee with 100% certainty that you will see them.
The best time to visit is between february and august when the seas are relatively calm. The pink dolphins stay where they are year round, as do the pigs. Are you coming in rainy season? Then it’s still a good time to do the pink dolphin & pig island tour when the seas are calm and the temperatures are lower.
We don’t accept babies and toddlers on this trip. The minimum age is 4. Kids between 4-9 years old enjoy the kids price for this excursion.
You can cancel your booking for free up until 24 hours in advance of the tour start date, no questions asked. We’ll refund you the deposit or you can choose to use it as an advance to a different booking or tour.
