What to Expect at Samui Elephant Home
Samui Elephant Home plans to be the very first elephant hospital on Koh Samui. During this tour you have the opportunity to feed the elephants, bathe with them and see them behaving naturally in their own habitat. The elephant hospital is worth a visit to see how they take care of sick animals. Most of them have a history as working elephants in the logging industry or driving tourists around on their back. It’s a good sign that these practices become something of the past. By visiting Samui Elephant Home you can contribute to a better future for these mighty animals!
Itinerary
Our driver will pick you up from your hotel or villa on Koh Samui. The drive to Samui Elephant Home takes between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on your location.
Enjoy a welcome drink and change into traditional Thai farmer clothing (provided).
We’ll tell you all about our concept and what we are trying to achieve at Samui Elephant Home.
Join in as we prepare food for the elephants. We’ll show you how we make healthy supplements. Afterwards we feed the elephants with organic food from around the camp like grass and bananas. Take some pictures with the elephants as well!
See the elephants in the mud spa. They enjoy rolling around in the mud. As for humans, they use it to treat and protect their skin from parasites.
We take a walk with the elephants around the camp. This is where they feel at home and relaxed. They will eat food they can find and rub trees. Just like they would do in the wild.
Visit the first elephant nursery on Koh Samui. The animals here were rescued from doing hard work. We prepare organic food for them together.
We shower the elephants together in their huge bath. You can wash and scrub the animals and take some pictures at the same time. They love playing around!
We enjoy a range of vegetarian snacks and seasonal fruits. Afterwards it’s time to say goodbye to the elephants for a return transfer to your hotel or villa on Koh Samui.

At Samui Elephant Home the elephants can roam freely. During their life they were mostly shackled by chains and used as a cheap work force. The mission of this sanctuary is to take care of them in their natural habitat and to increase public knowledge about this mighty animal. This will benefit our future generations and the elephants can get old happy and worry free!
Most definitely! Samui Elephant Home welcomes children of all ages. Safety is our concern, so we give young and old guidelines and rules at the start of the program. That way we can keep the trip safe and fun for everyone.
At the end of the tour, morning or afternoon, we serve vegetarian snacks. Think of sandwiches, salad rolls, spring rolls, spaghetti, fresh fruits and soft drinks. Do you have an allergy? Please let us know so we can prepare accordingly.
We are open year round, rain or sunshine. The elephants enjoy the rain as they can have fun in the mud and water. Don’t worry about the weather: if it’s necessary we’ll provide rain coats and umbrellas. Visiting Samui Elephant Home during a rainy day is something special!
You can cancel your booking for free up until 24 hours in advance of the tour start date, no questions asked. We’ll refund you the deposit or you can choose to use it as an advance to a different booking or tour.

Lovely experience, our kids thoroughly enjoyed being around the elephants. The trip was well organized, transfers on time and they explain why it’s necessary to support these sanctuaries in Thailand.
We did the morning tour to the elephant park on our family holiday to Koh Samui in august 2023. This is definitely a must do if you want to know the story behind these beautiful animals and what life they had before coming here. The staff in the park is extremely careful en lovely to the elephants, whonseemed to enjoy our presence. Bring mosquito spray though especially when it’s wet.
Superb short trip to see the elephants.
